Tucker Hill
Tucker Hill development is coming to McKinney. This new development will be located North of 380, where Stonebridge Ranch street will be extended North. Its northern boundary will be Bloomdale Road,you can see a map here. More details can be found at the Tucker Hill site.The development will consist of 2100 homes on 772 acres. The homes will unique, reminiscient to Highland Park or the "M" streets in Dallas.

A sign has been placed on the building that houses one of the Blackard's offices. I have been told that this office is used by the group that is in charge of selling and building the residential homes in Adriatica. This is the little building that sits directly in front of Zin Zen and to the right of the UPS Store. Kasteli is a small town in Greece.

Plan reviews are common prior to construction.The fountain is taking longer than anticipated and the Stone Mason had prior commitments for some commercial work in Louisiana. Carving 147 tons of stone by yourself is not an easy task.Adriatica is a very difficult project. The smalest detail must be attended to or the result will be an inferior product, which nobody wants. The initial time frame for the project was stated at 8-10 years until build out, but reports are that it will be completed in about 4-5 years. With none of the unique sites like the fountain, Bell Tower and such in most cases none existant, and no new report on a store or restaurant do you think this project is hurting or had jeff lost his passion?
I do not believe that is the case. The slab has been poured for the bell tower and the fountain is near completion, yet appears abandoned for the time being. If the sculptor reads this site, I would like to hear from him. The city of McKinney P&Z as well as the City Council are very stringent on what is developed in the city. It can take a long time to get something as simple as a sign ordinance amended. I think the city does a great job, and that is what keeps McKinney different from Frisco. If you drive down Virginia Parkway or Eldorado, you will notice that there are very few signs that are allowed for businesses and in my opinion keep the city from becoming an eyesore. I believe that Mr. Blackard is a perfectionist and in articles he has even stated that if Adriatica makes money, great, and if not that is okay. I believe that he has amassed such wealth that he can afford to take a risk on a development such as Adriatica. 11/14/06 P&Z Meeting
The Galleon Dubrovnik will be up for discussion at this weeks P&Z meeting. Last week it was tabled pending a maintenance agreement that the Blackard Group wants to provide at the hearing. It is very possible that the issue will be tabled again if the contract is not solidified. This is a very big issue with a lot of the homeowners in Stonebridge and especially those that have waterfront homes that view Adriatica. I believe the building that is up for discussion is that of Ken Paxton’s office that will be housed in Adriatica.

If you have been keeping up with the hype over the new Sony Playstation 3 that will be released on November 17 and thinking that you might be lucky enough to get your hands on one, you may be interested in this site. This is a UPC database and the link will take you the UPC barcode for the Playstation 3. From what I have read online, if you take this UPC code to Wal-Mart’s electronic department and have them scan it, they will be able to tell you how many units they will have on the launch date. Will the employee do this for you? I don’t know, but it is worth a shot if you are looking for one upon initial release.

Google entering the radio ad market
There has been a buzz in the air that Google will be entering the radio advertising market. I noticed that there was now a Google office located in North Dallas near the Galleria area. McKinney Ranks as 4th Safest City in Texas
The city jumped from No. 5 to No. 4 in the state and from No. 82 to No. 64 in the country in the just-released rankings of the safest American cities compiled by Morgan Quitno Press. The announcement was made in the new edition of City Crime Rankings, an annual reference book of crime statistics and rankings slated for publication next week. "McKinney is fairly unique in that we continue to grow at a rapid rate while lowering our crime rate at the same time. That speaks to the character of both our residents as well as the fine work being done by the men and women at the McKinney Police Department," said City Manager Larry Robinson.The Morgan Quitno Safest City Award is based on a city’s rate for six basic crime categories: murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and motor vehicle theft. All cities of 75,000+ populations that reported crime data to the FBI for the six crime categories were included in the rankings. Final 2005 statistics, released by the FBI on September 18, 2006, were used to determine the rankings.The findings of the 13th annual Safest City and Metropolitan Area Awards are featured in City Crime Rankings 13th Edition, an annual reference book from Morgan Quitno Press. The newly updated edition of this volume will be available Nov. 9. The Safest City and Metropolitan Area rankings are one of six Morgan Quitno Awards announced annually by the company. These other annual announcements designate the nation’s Most Livable State (a state quality of life survey); the Healthiest State (a survey of state health care); the Safest and Most Dangerous States (a state crime survey); the Smartest State (a state education survey) and the Most Improved State (a survey of state trends.)

I visited the Hank Haney Golf Ranch site this morning. Below are a few pictures(soon) of the site. The damage of the site sounds worse in print then the pictures show. The miniature golf course has been picked over and a lot of the trees and some of the sod has been removed. The outdoor lighting had been removed from the driving range. There are a few buildings on the site, which appear to have been left intact. Although the reports state that it would cost up to $1,000,000 to become operational again, I question that report. It will be interesting to see what the outcome of this whole ordeal will be.
I hope everyone had a good Halloween. If you were unfortunate enough to be stuck on the Dallas North Tollway yesterday around 5:00, like myself you know what a mess it was. I arrived in Dallas at Love Field Airport at 4:55 PM and arrived in McKinney at 6:55 PM. This trip usually takes one hour. If you are thinking of moving to Frisco or McKinney and working anywhere near downtown Dallas, do not do it unless you can deal with an hour to hour and half commute.
