After a year business, cookie-maker Mary Beth Schad, of McKinney, has accomplished more than she could have hoped for.Schad’s company, Ellie & Ollie Cookies for Dinner, was nominated as one of 11 finalists in Martha Stewart’s “Dreamers and Doers” contest. The contest’s goal was to find women who were turning their hobbies into jobs by starting their own businesses.Schad found out about the contest in May, when a friend told her about it. Schad, who had never considered entering a contest decided, to enter just to see what would happen.“I’ve never entered a contest before,” she said. “Basically, I had to write a 250-word essay about the company and how it’s grown. I sent it in, and I got a call a few months later saying that the company had been selected.”Full Story........
